We all know that most make up has all sorts of hazardous chemicals that we don’t want to put on our face and absorb into our skin throughout the day.  But what do we do about it? I’ll be doing several posts on different options that are not only healthy, but actually work just as well as the department store brands and some that I like even better!

First up Younique’s healthy cosmetics.

What do I like about their make up?  I think the quicker question would be what don’t I like because I have so much to say about why I love it so much.  I obviously can’t go over each item that they make, although I have tried most of them, so if I don’t talk about a specific product you are wondering about please ask me in the comments and I’d be happy to answer what I can.

Younique is known for their 3D Fiber Lash Mascara. It’s what the company started with. They built upon it into what they now have – a whole line of makeup and face care.

Their mascara does deliver what it promises.

It make your lashes super long and super lush because of the unique way it puts more fibers on your lashes rather then just working with your natural lashes.  The only downside I’ve found to the 3D Fiber Lash Mascara is that if you wear contacts and you don’t apply it right the fibers can fall into your eyes and irritate your contacts.  With that being said there are a million You Tube videos demonstrating how to properly apply the mascara and if you do it right you won’t have an issue.

Eye Shadow

I have a huge problem of eye shadow changing colors on me.  When I put on Younique’s eye shadow it stays true to it’s color.  They have a huge assortment of colors. Including 5 different eye shadow pallets with 7 colors in each palette that are only $49 each.  I have had my palette a year and it’s still going strong so you definitely get your money’s worth.

My favorite thing about the shadow is how long they last.  I can put my eye shadow on in the morning and I’m lazy and sleep in it. When I wake up the next day it’s still there.  And not horribly groggy and raccoon eyed.  It looks like I just applied it.  I have yet to find an eye shadow (healthy or hazardous) that works as well as the palette shadow.

Eye Liner

LOVE the eye liner.  It goes on super smooth and, like the eye shadow, it stays where you put it.  I don’t have to touch up throughout the day or find my eye liner running down my face to be caught by the bags under my eyes.  Just like the shadow I can sleep in it and run out the door in the morning looking like I have a fresh face on.

Power Foundation

The Younique powder foundation works wonders in covering up all sorts of nasties. Blemishes, zits, bags and whatever else ails your face.  And it somehow does it without looking like you’ve shellac-ed your face.

It feels very light and looks very natural, but covers amazingly.  It is also a pressed powder which is awesome.  So many mineral powders that actually work only come in a loose powder form, which I am not a fan of.  I love this one just for the simple fact that it is in a hard pressed form.

Liquid Foundation

This liquid foundation will cover anything and everything you can manage to have on your face.  Including permanent black marker!  Yes, my friend actually tested it!  And you only need a few drops for your whole face, so the bottle lasts.  It is still light and feels like a light lotion going on.  Once I have it on I don’t feel greasy or weighed down.

Since I don’t have any major skin issues I usually save this for special occasions and rely on the pressed powder on a daily basis.

More than make up

As much as I love Younique’s products, what I really truly love the most about the company is their mission to ‘Uplift, Empower, and Validate’ women.

The Younique Foundation is at the core of all they do.  They help women who were sexually abused as children or adolescents by hosting them at a retreat where they are uplifted by each other and learn skills that can help them find individual healing.

They educate parents and empower them to protect their children from sexual abuse while leading a public dialogue to bring the epidemic to life.
